Welcome to Our School

Welcome to River Valley Montessori of Shakopee, where we provide a thoughtfully designed hybrid learning environment that blends authentic Montessori methods with our Learn From The Start and Learn As We Grow curriculum. Together, these approaches create personalized daycare and learning experiences that support development, encourage discovery, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

The early years are critical to a child’s growth and development, which is why we offer nurturing care and early education for children ages six weeks to six years. Our Infant program provides individualized attention in a calm, supportive setting. Toddler classrooms encourage independence and exploration, while our Preschool environments promote hands-on learning that builds confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Maintaining a safe and healthy environment is a top priority at our school. Our building features secure coded-entry access, and all staff are certified in CPR and First Aid. Teachers also participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education. We are proud to foster a warm, welcoming community where children and families feel supported and connected.

Families stay engaged throughout the day with SproutAbout, our family communication app that provides classroom updates, direct messaging with teachers, and live streaming video access.

Our school works with families to offer a tuition schedule most convenient for you, whether weekly or monthly. We proudly partner with families receiving child care assistance through Scott, Carver, Hennepin, and Sibley counties. We are also preparing to meet the high standards required to earn our Parent Aware rating in 2026 as part of our continued commitment to program quality.

Conveniently located near Huber Park, we invite you to schedule a tour and discover what makes River Valley Montessori of Shakopee a special place for early learning. We can't wait to meet you!

Toddler Care

1.5 – 3 years 1:7 Staff-to-Child Ratio
At this age, children use their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills to learn about and make sense of their world in ways that are meaningful and effective to them. Toddlers actively seek out information, learn quickly and easily, and are especially interested in being independent. We allow them the freedom to learn as much as they can as quickly as possible.

Primary Program

2 – 5 years 1:10 Staff-to-Child Ratio

As children mature, they see practical life exercises that adults find commonplace as interesting and extraordinary, such as sorting, pouring, and washing dishes. Because control and coordination of mind and body is still developing, the Montessori Method includes tangible experiences with concrete materials used to learn math, movable alphabets to explore language, and cubes, cylinders, and other shapes to categorize, find spatial relationships, and more.

This mixed-age environment encourages cooperation, respect, and meaningful relationships, allowing children to experience different roles as they grow within their classroom community.

Do you accept child care assistance or subsidies?

Yes. River Valley Montessori of Shakopee works with Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) to help eligible families with the cost of care.
