Welcome to Our School

Hi there, Sugar Land parents! Greatwood Montessori has offered daycare and preschool since May 1999, near Greatwood Golf Club and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital.

From 6 weeks to 6 years, we offer Infants, Toddlers, and Primary. Families can also use Drop-in Care and Part-time schedules. Looking for summer fun? Wondercamp offers screen-free fun and themes like Wonders of Color. At our Montessori Unlimited school, learning comes to life in carefully prepared environments where children work with hands-on materials, make meaningful choices, and explore at their own pace. Children may dive into literacy activities that strengthen language and communication skills, hands-on math that makes abstract ideas concrete, and science and discovery that encourage curiosity and problem-solving.

Dance lets children express themselves through movement. Fitness offers active play. Discover the remaining enrichments on this page. Children have a Discovery room, a STEAM lab, to call their own. Children play outside on a playground separated by age. Check in from anywhere with livestreaming video of the classroom.

Healthy meals and snacks are part of every day here, and we help children feel confident about new foods. Thorough health and safety standards guide every classroom, so little learners can be curious and carefree. We invite you to tour Greatwood Montessori, located at 6633 Greatwood Parkway, Sugar Land, TX 77479, and see our classrooms in action.

Toddler Care

1.5 – 3 years 1:9 Staff-to-Child Ratio
At this age, children use their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills to learn about and make sense of their world in ways that are meaningful and effective to them. Toddlers actively seek out information, learn quickly and easily, and are especially interested in being independent. We allow them the freedom to learn as much as they can as quickly as possible.

Primary Program

3 – 6 years 1:15 Staff-to-Child Ratio

As children mature, they see practical life exercises that adults find commonplace as interesting and extraordinary, such as sorting, pouring, and washing dishes. Because control and coordination of mind and body is still developing, the Montessori Method includes tangible experiences with concrete materials used to learn math, movable alphabets to explore language, and cubes, cylinders, and other shapes to categorize, find spatial relationships, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right daycare is an important decision. These are answers to common questions we hear from families like yours.

Does Greatwood Montessori have certified Montessori teachers?

Yes, Greatwood Montessori has certified Montessori teachers who are trained to support your child's learning and development. We require lead teachers in our Primary and Elementary programs to hold diplomas from teacher training centers accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE). This specialized training helps our teachers provide authentic Montessori learning experiences that encourage your child's independence, confidence, and curiosity.

How does Greatwood Montessori maintain a secure learning environment and manage authorized child pickup?

Your child's safety is our top priority at Greatwood Montessori. We maintain secure entrances, follow visitor identification procedures, and release children only to individuals you have authorized for pickup. Our team also follows established supervision and check-in procedures to help keep your child safe throughout the day.

What is the illness policy at Greatwood Montessori?

At Greatwood Montessori, we ask you to keep your child home if they aren't feeling well. If your child develops symptoms of illness during the day, we will separate them from the other children so they can rest comfortably while being monitored by a staff member. We will also contact you to arrange pickup. For the health and well-being of your child and others, your child must remain home until they have been free of symptoms for at least 24 hours or their physician provides written clearance indicating they can return to school.

How often will my child have opportunities for outdoor play and physical activity at Greatwood Montessori?

At Greatwood Montessori, outdoor time is an important part of the daily experience at Montessori Unlimited and typically offered twice a day, as weather permits. When outdoor play isn't possible, we provide indoor movement activities throughout the day.

How often are classrooms and materials cleaned and sanitized at Greatwood Montessori?

Our school is designed to be easily cleaned and maintained at high standards of sanitation. We implement and post daily cleaning and disinfecting schedules in our classrooms. Frequent hand washing is practiced by staff and children, and is always required before eating, after toileting, and after outdoor play.

Are meals and snacks included, and how are allergies handled at Greatwood Montessori?

Greatwood Montessori provides nutritious meals and snacks, with menus approved by a registered dietitian nutritionist and aligned with USDA nutrition and portion guidelines. Meals are served family-style, encouraging children to participate in setting the table, serving, and cleaning up, where permitted by the local health department. If your child has a food allergy or dietary restriction, we’ll work with your family to understand their needs and develop an appropriate plan.

How does Greatwood Montessori help a child settle in during their first days?

Starting somewhere new is a big step, and Greatwood Montessori helps your child adjust with a welcoming classroom, caring teachers, and consistent daily routines. We take time to understand your child's personality, interests, and individual needs while gently introducing them to classmates and Montessori activities. We encourage families to share any questions or concerns with our teachers so we can help make the transition a positive and comfortable experience.
