Welcome to Our School

Welcome to First Colony Montessori South in Sugar Land, TX. My name is Laura Russell, and I am the director at our Montessori school.

We offer Infant, Toddler, and Primary programs for children six weeks to six years old. We strive to provide an authentic Montessori environment for both our children and our parents. In addition to our authentic Montessori program, we also offer exceptional child care/daycare, including after-school programs.

At our school, you will find our teachers have a passion for educating and caring for children. I am proud of the strong bonds our staff has made with our parents and children - they make everyone feel like they are a part of their own family. We have an open-door policy and encourage parents to come in and discuss anything at any time.

We're pleased to offer our families access to Montessori Compass. This online resource enables parents to receive updates about their child's school experiences and communicate with their teacher.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies and Associates in Early Childhood Development

As a long-time resident of Sugar Land, Texas and a graduate of Dulles High School, I believe in community involvement in Fort Bend County. As a former Pre-K teacher, I am dedicated to facilitating the educational growth of young children. Our team of Certified Montessori Guides, our assistants and other support staff, and Carina and I as the administrative team work diligently to promote the best learning environment for children.

I was born and raised in Cordoba, Argentina. My professional career began after I finished high school and came to the US for a new beginning. I worked as a toddler teacher in a church school, where I learned the art of teaching and how to interact with families. This experience gave me the resources to fully comprehend the importance of teaching. I will continue to learn and evolve as I work with co-workers, children and families.
