Our Montessori School Programs”

Programs

The Montessori curriculum and programs are based on the philosophy of world-renowned educator Dr. Maria Montessori. Each of our programs is designed to address the unique developmental needs of your child through an exploration of language, mathematics, spatial learning, music and art.

Dr. Montessori believed every child was an eager and willing learner. For this reason, Montessori teachers have an unobtrusive, supporting role in the classroom. Every child's learning is self-directed, based on that child's interests and abilities. It's not the traditional approach, but for many children, it's proven to be the best approach.

We invite you to learn more about our programs listed below and then to schedule a visit to see them in person.

Montessori Preschool (Ages 2-3)

Montessori Preschool
Our toddler classroom is designed for children ages 18-months to 3-years and the ratio is one teacher to six children. Our teachers create a warm and loving environment so the children feel comfortable and secure. They also encourage independence by giving them individual attention as they help them deal with positive experiences as well as with frustration.

Our curriculum takes advantage of the rapid growth of gross and fine motor skills. For those children who do not as yet have verbal skills, sign language is taught to help them communicate. This age group will have potty training, when ready, as part of their daily routine.

We offer half-day, extended-day and full-day child care programs.

Montessori Primary (Ages 3-6)

Montessori Primary
Our multi-aged primary classrooms are designed for children ages 3, 4, 5 and children that turn 6 years of age during the school year. Each classroom provides authentic Montessori materials on mathematics, geography, science, visual and language arts, practical life and sensorial development activities.

Children are free to experiment and make individual choices, because the learning materials allow for self-correction. By repeating the exercises, children learn to concentrate on the task at hand, and to solve progressively more complex problems through intelligence and initiative.

Our teachers work very hard to ensure the children are ready for Kindergarten and beyond. They instill a sense of self-confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Our teachers are one of the main reasons children love coming to our school every day. Parents continue to be amazed by the fact that the children are always hard at work, are truly interested in what they are doing and treat everyone with respect. The primary ratio is 1:15 and we offer full-time, part-time, and extended-day child care programs.

We have been at The Woodlands Montessori for four years, and our children have enjoyed their time here and see it as an extension of our house. The comfort of the entire community educational environment allowed our children to learn and grow at their own pace.
