Montessori in Aurora, IL

Aurora Montessori School offers a true, individualized Montessori experience for each our students. We are affiliated with the American Montessori Society (www.amshq.org) and ascribe to all of their principles and values. Each teacher holds a Montessori Early Childhood Teaching Certificate, which you will find posted right outside of her classroom. Our school is also a member of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools (www.illinoismontessorischools.com).

Our Head of School, Karen Zehnal, was a founding parent of Aurora Montessori School when we opened in 1999. She is the very proud parent of three graduates of our school. She joined the faculty in 2003, after obtaining her AMS Montessori Early Childhood Certificate from Seton Montessori Institute. Our Assistant Head of School, Lisa Babcock is also Montessori Certified and has been a member of the faculty since August 2000.

At Aurora Montessori School each child is celebrated and offered individualized opportunities to satisfy their natural yearning for knowledge. Our teachers have 143 years of combined experience, which gives our families a level of confidence you just can’t find anywhere else. We currently offer individualized programs for children aged 18 months through six-years-old. Our school offers half-day and school-day options. Before- and after-school child care options are also available.

We encourage parents to participate in our program in many ways, including an active parent support organization, classroom volunteering and monthly family events. We are passionately committed to fostering a strong community with the children and families of our school by offering many opportunities for them to meet and develop strong friendships.
